NEARLY 1,000 CONSTRUCTION WORKERS ARE NOW ON THE JOB BUILDING BRIGHTLINE’S MIAMI TO ORLANDO RAIL LINE

The new Miami to Orlando (and Disney) rail connection being built by Brightline is moving full steam ahead with construction.

The company told investors last week that there were over over 982 construction workers actively engaged in build out of the Orlando line in September.

Brightline said they continue aiming to complete construction and begin the Miami-Orlando train service in 2022. Covid-19 is not expected to have an impact on the construction timeline, the company said.

In April 2019, the company raised $1.75 billion in a bond sale meant to finance construction of the Orlando route. The company says that it is now raising additional financing to maintain the
pace of construction activity (an additional $80m loan due in June 2021 was issued at an interest rate of Libor plus 2.5%).

A Disney station is planned to open shortly after an Orlando Airport station, but only the airport station line is now under construction. The company has a memorandum of understanding with Disney and continues to negotiate with the state and Disney for a final agreement.

Disney Park Pass Reservation System Extended into 2022

Disney World has extended the Disney Park Pass reservation system beyond the initial September 2021 date, now including dates through January 14, 2022.

This move seems to align with our reporting that Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said that the theme park reservation system was “here to stay”.

Of course, once capacity limitations are raised beyond the current 25% capacity caps, there may be fewer days in which the reservations are unavailable for a theme park.

As always, keep checking back with us here at our WVH Blog as we continue to bring you the latest news and photos from around the Disney Parks.

Disney World reveals Christmas week hours of operation

ORLANDO, Fla. – It may still be a magical Christmas season after all.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Disney World has made several adjustments to its normal holiday plans over the past several months. While the park may not be holding its normal Christmas celebrations, it will have extended hours during the Christmas season.

According to the Disney World website, the Magic Kingdom will be open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. from the beginning of December until the week of Christmas. Starting on Sunday, Dec. 20, the Magic Kingdom will be open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

These hours will continue until Dec. 30. On New Year’s Eve, the park is still listed as being open only from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom will also have extended hours. Similarly to the Magic Kingdom, these extended hours appear to end on New Year’s Eve.

Disney World also has the hours for the first full week of January listed on its website. The Magic Kingdom will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Epcot from noon until 8 p.m., Hollywood Studios from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and the Animal Kingdom will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Disney World previously announced that it was canceling its traditional Christmas celebration at the parks, known as “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.” On its website, Disney wrote that while the event had been canceled, the parks would still be celebrating the holiday season in “other creative ways.” The resort will include festive décor, specialty treats and holiday entertainment from November 6 to December 20.

Happy Columbus Day!

Today is Columbus Day ??????

Today is a national holiday in the USA. The date recalls the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas in 1492. At that time, indigenous communities have lived in the Americas, so we should also recognize their existence and contribution. Pictured below is Columbus Circle, a roundabout built in New York City, close to Central Park. It is considered the most visited square in Manhattan after Times Square. For many, the holiday is a way of both honoring Columbus’ achievements and celebrating Italian-American heritage.
